Use of Antibiotics in Upper Respiratory Tract Infections in Tertiary Care Teaching Hospital of Delhi

The aim of this study was to evaluate the prescribing pattern antibiotics in URTI patients attending OPD and IPD HAHC Hospital, a tertiary care teaching hospital Jamia Hamdard, associated with HIMSR, New Delhi.

In present study, an overall antibiotic prescription rate adult 45.6% whereas 54.4% were on non-antibiotic treatment. our prescribed 10.5% cases common cold, 76.47% pharyngitis, 63.15% laryngitis, 100% otitis media 52.38% sinusitis. most commonly azithromycin which collectively 70.3% combination amoxicillin clavulanic acid remaining 29.7% suffering from pharyngitis. sinusitis, media. at Hospital is line ICMR guidelines URTIs.
 We found adverse drug reactions only 9% receiving acid. reaction reported diarrhoea, stomach pain, nausea vomiting diarrhoea combination. No other unexpected observed study.
